Mildred Huie Wilcox

Mildred Huie WilcoxMildred Huie Wilcox has been a patron of the arts ever since her days at UGA. In the 50's she was a fashion designer traveling between New York and Rome. As a resident of St. Simon's Island, Ms. Wilcox opened the Left Bank Art Gallery in 1964 and later, the Mildred Huie Museum at Mediterranean House.

Ms. Wilcox's civic affiliations are legion as she has served as Director of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber and the United Way and was even appointed by Governor Zell Miller to direct the 500th anniversary visit of Columbus' three ships, "The Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria".

Mildred Huie Wilcox has been recognized by the American Council for the Arts and she is past president of Golden Isles Arts and Humanities and is recipient of the Alfred W. Jones, Sr. Award for dedicated leadership and outstanding service to Brunswick and the Golden Isles for many more distinctions too numerous to mention here.
