Adam Davies Speaking in February

There was plenty of networking going on and attendees literally raved over how wonderful the conference was, presenting a variety of excellent speakers who not only were very helpful and effective covering all points of the writing process and the vagaries involved but were on hand during mid-day breaks and at day's end to speak individually to attendees and students.

Every speaker was enthusiastic and informative. The weather was perfect (75) and armadas of sailboats glided by behind the speakers as they imparted all their accumulated wisdom to the attentive guests.

Everyone is invited to participate in our "Challenge" writing contests for great prizes, such as a helicopter ride over the island and kayak tours through our tidal rivers to observe abundant wildlife.

Former UGA news reporter speaks up!

Molly Read Woo is our surprise guest speaker this November. Her talk: FROM NEWS WRITING TO NOVEL WRITING -How a hard news reporter learned to disregard the facts, then find them again, promises to hold her audience captive.  Woo draws from her own thrilling experiences while writing for "The Red and Black", University of Georgia's newspaper. Winner of six Georgia Press Association awards, Woo's novel, "The Red and Black Breed" is expected this fall and will be available at the conference.

The Scribblers' Ball

The historic Metts Mansion in beautiful Savannah, Georgia will be hosting a fund-raiser for Scribblers' Retreat Writers' Conference, (a non-profit organization dedicated to literacy and the literary arts next year.  This black tie (optional) event promises to be an "old world" extravaganza designed to enjoy the best of everything in an atmosphere of lushness and gentility within view of the famous fountain in Forsyth Park.

Running In Stilettos: Living a Balanced Life in Dangerous Shoes, just picked up a Silver Award in the "humor" category of the national 2009 Independent Publisher Book Awards competition. Wagner's book took first place last Saturday in the Illinois Women's Press Association 2009 communications contest (non-fiction biography). Congratulations Mary!

Dan Roper, Editor of Georgia Backroads magazine says regarding William: "We need to keep an eye on him, because he's already an exceptional writer, but the scary thing is that he's getting better each time he writes something.
